The Chester Basketball Board is expanding and needs you!

If you enjoy helping young athletes, giving back to the Chester community, and basketball, we should talk. Chester Basketball is expanding its Board of Directors for the upcoming 2022/2023 season.

We are a non-profit youth sports organization that makes it possible for young athletes ranging from K-12 to have fun, exercise, build confidence, character and camaraderie while developing individual skills, collaborating in a team setting, and succeeding in a position of authority through coaching and officiating.

Making this happen for hundreds of our children in Chester takes a village, and our board of directors is an important part of that village. Our board of has a front-row seat in watching our children learn life lessons while playing basketball and there’s a seat at that table for you!

If you’re interested in using your organizational and leadership skills to help our student-athletes and our Chester community, we should talk. If interested, please contact Anthony Cresti ( , 732.713.0726) as we will begin planning for next season shortly.

We look forward to hearing from you -- all are welcome!

**********Covid Plan UPDATE****************

The Chester Basketball COVID 19 preparation plan was created in accordance with the New Jersey Department of Health’s Public Health Recommendations for Youth Sports (September 20, 2021).  Our program’s preparation plan is regularly updated as required by the NJDOH.  Updates are based on evolving guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), state and local public health regulations, and COVID activity levels in the community.  Revisions will be posted to the CBB website as necessary.

If you have additional questions, please contact our CBB Health and Safety Coordinator: Tom Murphy, MD ( ). Highlights of the CBB COVID 19 Program Preparation Plan (as of 1/11/22):

  • Coaches are educated on CBB health and safety protocols prior to the start of the season
  • Shared practice equipment (like balls) are disinfected regularly
  • Individuals are expected to wear an appropriate face covering at all times during Chester Basketball activities.  Players are not required to wear masks while engaged in vigorous physical activity, with certain exceptions.
  • Athletes are screened by temperature check at the start of each session (Participants with temperature >100.4 degrees will be sent home immediately)
  • When possible, physical distancing is encouraged for athletes, coaches, referees, and spectators
  • Athletes and coaches should bring their own drinks/food to athletic activities.  Shared water bottles and communal food are not permitted
  • Quarantine and return to play:
    • Participants with any potential symptom of COVID MUST stay home until they are evaluated and cleared by their doctor.
    • Participants diagnosed with COVID MUST alert the program immediately
    • All contact tracing and determination of close contact is handled by local public health officials.  When Chester Basketball is notified of a positive participant, a team will suspend operations to allow public health officials time to investigate as necessary
      • Any participant in our program who is identified by the health department through contact tracing as a close contact MUST alert the program immediately
      • Close contacts identified by public health officials via contact tracing will be handled as follows:
        • Vaccinated individuals do not need to quarantine and can continue participation without testing as long as they have no symptoms of COVID 19
        • Unvaccinated individuals may return to play after 5 days if they are asymptomatic. These players MUST wear a mask continuously on days 6-10 (even during play).  Players must confirm with their physician that they are medically able to wear a mask during vigorous activity.
          • Unvaccinated individuals who had COVID within the previous three months, recovered from their COVID infection, and have no current symptoms of COVID do not need to quarantine
    • Youth sports organizations have been instructed to track the COVID vaccination status of participants.  Parents of participants will be asked to provide their participant’s COVID vaccination status.
